Every March 17, the feast of Saint Patrick is celebrated, in which everything is dressed in green, the color of the flag of Ireland. It is a celebration that has crossed borders as the Irish have established themselves in different parts of the planet creating new communities.

One of the star recipes in St. Patrick is the irish soda bread, a very quick and easy bread to make in which sodium bicarbonate is mixed with the whey and generates the carbon dioxide that makes the crumb of this delicious bread grow.

  • 150 gr of wheat flour
  • 150 gr of whole wheat flour
  • Half a teaspoon of baking soda
  • Half a teaspoon of salt
  • 250 ml of buttermilk

1- To make the buttermilk mix 250 ml of milk and a tablespoon of lemon juice. Stir well and let it rest for 15 minutes.

2- Mix the two flours with the bicarbonate and salt. When the dough is homogeneous, spread it on a board with a little flour and make a hole in the middle.

3- Pour the buttermilk into the hole and continue kneading and form a ball.

4- Place it on a baking tray and make a few cuts sn the surface. Bake for 30 minutes at 200ยบ. The bread must be golden. Let cool before serving.
