In times of high heat it is normal that children are not so hungry, although that is no excuse for us to let them eat only what they want. Of course, with the high temperatures we can forgive them some lentil dishes, for example, but never forget that they need to have a balanced and healthy diet.
You also have to take advantage of the heat. Using fresh and seasonal products you can prepare very light, healthy and refreshing menus and recipes. Following the advice of 5 a day, we propose a healthy menu full of vitamins for the little ones:
1. Melon soup with lemon and mint
You will need 1 small melon, 2 lemons, fresh mint, 30 ml (or 3 tablespoons) of virgin olive oil, salt and pepper. Squeeze the juice from the lemons and mix it with the melon pulp (cut into pieces). Add the mint leaves and oil, and blend everything with the mixer. Then, we pass everything through a Chinese so that the texture is finer. Finally, salt and pepper are added to taste. This soup is served very cold, decorated with fresh mint leaves, and as an optional complement you can add a couple of drops of tabasco before serving, for adults, of course.
2. Tuna cubes with guacamole
You will need 400 g of tuna or bonito in thick fillets, virgin olive oil, 2 ripe avocados, 1 ripe tomato, the juice of a lemon, 1 shallot, 1 cayenne pepper, fresh coriander and salt. Cut the tuna into cubes, season them and reserve them. To make the guacamole, we remove the pulp from the avocados in a bowl. With the fork we smash to make a 'dough'. The tomato and the shallot are grated and added to the avocados. Add the lemon juice, and if you like the cayenne very chopped. Also add the finely chopped coriander and salt. Everything is mixed well and that's it. On the other hand, on a very hot griddle and with a drop of oil, put the tuna tacos to cook until it is cooked. They are served with guacamole.
3. Mango soda
You will need 1 chopped mango, 1 glass of orange juice, 1 chopped carambola, 1 glass of cold boiled water, ½ glass of ice, juice of ½ lemon, 3 tablespoons of sugar. We put the water and ice in a mincer and chop. Add the mango and carambola (previously peeled and cut), the orange juice, followed by the sugar and finally the lemon juice. Strain and serve cool. It will stay like a mango slush.
